A master-student relationship is explored in this coming of age documentary, where the filmmaker retraces his ageing mentor's journey as a folklorist through tribal regions of India. Revisiting characters from the books he penned decades ago, they uncover the shifting meanings of creativity, survival, and God; as the student begins to step out of the mentor's shadow.

"When I picked up a camera, I found myself fitting into the mould of an artist, yet the meaning of that label remained unclear. What does it mean to live as an artist? At 28, I grapple with these questions, and at 74, Randhir continues to do the same."
"I had long harboured a desire to explore the worlds from his books on Kutch, Dang and Nilgiris. In them he had documented potters, ship builders, musicians and healers; people who shaped his ideas on art and life. I wanted to meet people who inspired my mentor."
"A significant moment in my journey was discovering Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet. It sparked the idea of exploring the relationship between an artist at the beginning of his path and another in his later years."

"What is the beauty and the price of being an artist? Who will remember the art we create? My intention was to uncover the similarities between us as artists, despite our outward differences."
